Young Farmers Institute

We are planting the seeds & growing growers!
We saw a need to teach the children in the community how to plant and grow their own food. The children’s ages ranged from 5-14 and all had an opportunity to engage in meaningful skill building.
Kiddies Gardeners Class
Phase one of the program included identifying the what plant growth looks like from seedlings to harvesting. This interactive hands on course gave the children an opportunity to learn with the tools needed to grow food and once they learned with us, we wanted to continue to cultivate that skill. Children received garden starter kits to grow their own food.
Onsite Demonstration Site
Through our partnership with the Mims Community Center we have a 10x10 fenced in garden where we teach hands on and the children are able to have the full experience of planting, growing, and harvesting their own food.
